Every board is charred under control, brushed and oiled. The result is a surface no paint can match: deep black, warm amber or soft grey – durable, weatherproof and with no repainting.
Spruce
The classic Yakisugi timber. Fine, calm grain, low weight and the widest choice of tones – ideal for facades with a clean line.
Larch
Dense, resinous and naturally durable. Larch shows the strongest structure and suits heavily exposed facades and terraces.
Accoya®
Acetylated timber with a 50-year above-ground and 25-year in-ground warranty. Virtually no swelling or shrinking – the benchmark for demanding projects.
Applications
Facade and terrace from one source
Terrace
Decking boards with a slip-resistant brushed surface. Charring reduces water uptake and splintering and keeps the board comfortable in summer.
Interior
Wall and ceiling cladding with real depth. The same finish as outside, carried through to the interior without a break.
Fence and carport
Screens, garden walls and outbuildings in the same language as the house. Exposed surfaces stay colour-stable for years.
How it is made
From fire to facade
Char
The surface is charred under control at over 1000 °C. This carbon layer locks in the cellulose and makes the timber unattractive to moisture, fungi and insects.
Brush
Depending on the finish, the carbon is brushed off lightly or deeply. This is what separates a velvet structure from an open crocodile skin.
Oil
A pigmented natural oil fixes the surface, sets the tone and protects against UV. It chalks off instead of peeling.
Install
Cutting, profile and fixings are supplied to match the project – including corners, reveals and accessories in the same finish.

Shou Sugi Ban for facade and terrace
Shou Sugi Ban is a Japanese technique in which the timber surface is burnt under controlled conditions. The resulting charred layer protects the wood naturally against moisture, UV radiation, fungi and insects – without any chemical treatment.
We stock 14 finishes in spruce, larch and Accoya, from deep anthracite to warm brown tones. The boards suit facades, terraces, privacy screens and interior cladding. They are low maintenance, colour-stable for decades and are delivered and installed throughout the canton of Bern.
